Morning sickness is a common occurrence in pregnant women and most often, it happens during the early stages of pregnancy. Although this may give you a general feeling of not being well, you can however find simple tricks and tips to help you end morning sickness and make pregnancy a nicer experience.
If you are nauseous early in the morning, here are some tips and tricks to help you get over with morning nausea.
- Find out the triggers of your morning nausea. If you are feeling nauseous because of some food or some smell, then you may want to let your family members knew about it.
- An empty stomach and a stuffed one can trigger morning nausea, so avoid large meals but also avoid having an empty stomach. Get yourself saltine crackers before you get out of bed in the morning. You can also deal with it by eating cereal before going to sleep.
- Ginger is also known to end morning sickness. You can take it as tea, put it in hot water or you can chew on it.
- Smell fresh lemon peels if you are nauseous especially early in the morning. Smell can be a major factor in most pregnant women’s morning sickness. If you are feeling nauseous because of some smell of spices or somebody else’s perfume, you may want to avoid these triggers. Avoid them as possible if these are the causes of your being nauseous.
- Keep yourself hydrated. Keeping your body hydrated also helps in combating nausea. Aside from taking in water, tea, lemon drinks and other herbal teas can also help in getting over with nausea.
- Avoid fatty and spicy foods. These are most often triggers of the nausea during pregnancy. There can also be specific foods that can lead you to queasiness, thus you have to observe what is causing your morning nausea.
- Have plenty of rest. Take naps if possible. Tiredness can make your condition worse, thus make sure you got plenty of rest as well.
- Learn acupressure. Acupressure is seen to be a convenient way to end morning sickness, as you can do it anywhere and whenever you feel nauseous. You just have to learn the acupressure points, how to locate it and how to apply pressure with your thumb. You can find great resources to help you practice acupressure yourself.
- Reflexology is also another alternative way to deal with nausea during pregnancy. Aside from being relaxing, some women also find relief after getting a reflexology session.
- Adjust temperature. Avoid warm temperatures as it can also contribute to your being feeling nauseous and sick. Adjust your air-conditioning to make the temperature right for you. Make sure you got good ventilation as well.
Indeed, the nauseous feeling may disappear in the first or second trimester of your pregnancy but you can take simple steps to end morning sickness and make your pregnancy a better experience.
